Little Wonder of White

Ground Cover
Ground Cover

You look like a wild strawberry blossom,
but your waxy green leaves negate that.
So I wonder who you are little wonder of white?
You are such a beautiful ground covering mat
growing so free, your name I’d like to know.
Were it not Spring I would think you were snow.

To the Blossoming Bush Along the Way

Blossoming Bush
Blossoming Bush

Little bush I know not your name,

Though twice a day I pass you by.
May I stop to admire you,
Who I can’t identify?
For your presence brightens up my path,
As I walk along the way,
and your white starry blossoms,
Seem to only flower in May.
Thanks for the beauty you add to my day!

Wild Rose

Wild Rose
Wild Roses

Wild Rose, what a fragrant lady you are,
all dressed so pretty in pink.
Your stamens at me do blink
and flutter as lashes in the wind.
The sun kisses you good morning
as you guard the pathway gate.

Pretty Pansies

Pretty Pansies
Pretty Pansies

Pretty Pansies against the fence,
smiling at me this first May Day.

I had to stop to admire you ,
all dressed in colors of pink, yellow and blue.

You posed for me, and seemed to say,
“Take our picture before we fade away!”

NaPoWriMo 2013, #30–Free Will

Why don’t they listen?
Why can’t they see?
Time and time again I tell them,
Why don’t they believe me?

I tell them the truth,
Things for their own good.
Yet, they ignore what I say
Or treat it as a falsehood.

I love them so much,
It really hurts me to see,
Them reject the wisdom of my way,
And receive a life of misery.

NaPoWriMo 2013, #28–Color Choice

Red is favored many a time ,
But how can I choose it over lime?
And orange, I really like a lot,
But purple’s great too, is it not?
Yellow is so bright and cheery,
Pink delights when I’m feeling dreary,
Blue calms me with it’s gentle hue,
Yet a light shade of green does that too!
The glitter of gold I love to see,
But the shine of silver is also special to me.
Black has it’s place, as does brown,
How can I possibly choose a color to crown?
Picking a favorite is to hard for me,
For I like them all, as you can see.
Therefore, the choice I’ll leave undone,
For there’s just too many colors to focus on one.

NaPoWriMo 2013, #27–Proverbs and Old Sayings

Old sayings and proverbs
were what my parents often used
to teach a lesson or make a point.

As a child, I would not be amused,
to hear them speak
with wisdom and wit that was against my will.

Yet now, I the same wisdom I do seek
as a parent relating to my child.

I find myself now repeating
the proverbs and sayings of old,
hoping to convey the message
just as I was told.

NaPoWriMo 2013, #26–A Soul’s Search

It’s late and I am seeking sleep,
Yet all that I can find,
Are “what ifs”, “whys” and questions,
Deep within my mind.
“If only” is my companion,
As I search for needed sleep.
Rest I cannot  find,
As the days troubles I do keep.
Worries weigh upon my heart,
And chase the peace away,
Until I turn to God,
Give it all to Him, and pray.
