Lovely lavender flowers,
You are a delight to the eyes.
Yet your scent isn’t in keeping,
With your beautiful guise.
For your use is culinary,
in cuisine you are very fine.
Chefs use your flowers as garnish,
And your scapes for soup divine.

Perky Little Petunia,
Here you are once again,
Blooming so prettily
in that silver can.
You gave us your beauty,
so many days last year.
Never again did I expect to see you,
Yet after winter you did appear.
Your hardiness has earned you,
a special focal spot
in my Spring garden,
for an Annual you are not!

Veronica Speedwell!
I am so pleased to meet you today,
As you bask in the sun along the roadway.
Your purple spikes reach toward the sky,
Attracting bird and butterfly.
You’re such a carefree perennial,
As you bid travelers “speed you well”.
I think in my garden you should dwell,
Miss Veronica Speedwell .

Softly sway in the breeze.
Pendulous teardrops of vibrant color,
None are more exquisite than these

Little blossom of white,
growing so free,
soon a red berry you’ll be.
I hope we meet again–then.
Ah, strawberry so wild,
I loved you as a child,
and still do.

You look like a wild strawberry blossom,
but your waxy green leaves negate that.
So I wonder who you are little wonder of white?
You are such a beautiful ground covering mat
growing so free, your name I’d like to know.
Were it not Spring I would think you were snow.

Little bush I know not your name,
Though twice a day I pass you by.
May I stop to admire you,
Who I can’t identify?
For your presence brightens up my path,
As I walk along the way,
and your white starry blossoms,
Seem to only flower in May.
