An EKPHRASTIC is a poem that tells about a painting or photograph so as to describe it visually–no particular form.
I wrote this poem to describe my grand-son’s first mixtape cover which was drawn by my grand-daughter.

One Among Many

One Oak Leaf among many Maple leaves--Senryu Cascade poem
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015

As I was walking to my car I noticed the many leaves scattered all across the parking lot.  Their colors vividly showed against the black pavement. The leaves seemed to all be from the colorful Maple trees that were planted nearby—except—right by my car I noticed one lonely Oak leaf lying in among all the Maple leaves.  Thus, an inspiration for today’s poem.
