At the end of the day on June 30th one additional second was added to our time.
“Rare Leap Second Makes June 30th Longest Day of the Year”
When I heard about that I didn’t give it much thought, until I read this article:
“The Top Ten Incredible Things That Happen Every Second”
I thought #5-#3 and #1 were pretty amazing!

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,  Isaiah 9:6,7

Bouquet of Roses

Roses--Tanka poem
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015

Saw this beautiful rose bush growing along the sidewalk as I was on my way to the library.  I was reminded of the quote “Take Time to Stop and Smell the Roses”.  I did that and also took time to photograph them.  Beautiful addition to my summer day. 🙂

True Identity?

Stalk of Wheat?--Tanka poem
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona j. Atkinson ©2015

Today as I was walking on my College Campus going to an appointment with my academic counselor, I happened to look down and noticed this, what I thought to be, stalk of wheat.  Just laying there on the footpath, all by itself, and not a wheat field in sight.  Quite odd, I thought.  I picked it up to take home, quite excited because I had never had the chance to have a stalk of wheat before.:)  But….then I got to thinking about the parable in Matthew 13:24-30 and I began to wonder if it might be a tare…..Something to consider….and to ponder, why it happened to be right in my path today…..??  Perhaps it’s purpose was only to inspire me to write this poem 🙂
