Upsy-Daisy

“Upsy-Daisy” mamma used to say,
When I tripped and fell along the way.
Picking me up, kissing my tears,
She’d urge me on to face my fears.
“Upsy-Daisy” encouraged me to go,
In spite of the path of fear or woe.

Now years later I mimic that phrase,
As I help others along their ways.
“Upsy-Daisy” I say to you today,
Wherever you are, whatever the way.
Should you stumble and fall,
“Upsy-Daisy” and give it your all.
Never give up. Seek your dreams,
No matter how hard your life seems.
Hang onto hope and you’ll go far.
Remember “Upsy-Daisy” wherever you are!

June 8th is National Upsy Daisy Day.
This day is a day set aside to encourage you to face the day positively, and to get up ‘gloriously, gratefully and gleefully’ each morning.
“Upsy Daisy” Day was created by Stephanie West Allen in 2003.

Her desire in creating a National Upsy Daisy Day was to make humor, laughter and a positive attitude part of the Upsy Daisy Day

Yo! A Yo-Yo!

Today we Nationally honor,
The toy that’s named “Yo-Yo”.
An object kids love,
To spin, wind and throw.
A little axle and two disks,
Wrapped about with twine.
Who would think it would become,
Such a popular design!
Loved the world over,
For the challenge it presents,
And every year there are held,
Many contests and events.
Players  come to compete,
They spin, loop, and throw,
Performing tricks and freestyle,
To bring control of the Yo-Yo.
What a delight it is to watch!
It brings me such great joy,
To see the amazing feats accomplished,
With this simple toy!

The Common Dandelion

Dandelion
Dandelion

Little yellow blossoms,
Often picked without much stem,
By little hands seeking flowers for Mother.
Children love you.
To them you are beautiful, and you’re free!

They  can gather you and make crowns,
And chains, and rub you under their chins to see if they like butter.
How fun!  I smile at the thought.

Gardeners and grown ups don’t like you much,
but on this Mother’s Day
,
I wonder how many of you
Became yellow bouquets of love,
Gracing Mom’s dining room table,
Along with a homemade card.

Dandelions, I think God created you just for children.

Pretty Pansies

Pretty Pansies
Pretty Pansies

Pretty Pansies against the fence,
smiling at me this first May Day.

I had to stop to admire you ,
all dressed in colors of pink, yellow and blue.

You posed for me, and seemed to say,
“Take our picture before we fade away!”

NaPoWriMo 2013, #19–Blessings–“Pocket Poem”

Blessings-Pocket Poem 2013This a “Pocket Poem” I wrote and shared yesterday.  I printed out 5 in the shape of a pocket, which I carried in my coat pocket,to share with people throughout the day.
One share was unexpected and very special!
So glad I was able to participate in “Pocket Poem Day 2013”
and  I plan  to do so every year
(And…next year I hope to print out even more to share! 🙂

I bless you with hope,
As you go about this day.
I bless you with dreams,
That will never fade away.
For as you keep these within,
The battle of life you will win!

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24 (NKJV)
