At Day’s End…

End of Christmas Day--Tanka
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015

At the end of Christmas Day, after all the excitement is over, the presents are opened, the wrappings are gathered up and thrown away, I am glad that the love of family remains.  Peace on Earth—Goodwill to Men.  Christmas Blessings to all.

Christmas Memories

Yule Log Senryu poem
Original Poetry by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015 (clipart from clker.com)

When I was young Yule Logs were popular at Christmas time.  They were made from a chunk of a white birch tree which had three holes drilled in the center where three red candles were placed and then were decorated with some evergreen sprigs and holly berries. My family never had one, but I always wanted one and every Christmas I hoped I would be able to make one myself as we had birch trees in the woods behind our house.  It was a childhood dream that never manifested however and so to this day I still think of making one.
Maybe this year I will 🙂
