Two Words

Two Words, Hope, Despair

I shot a cruel word into the air

Hitting the tablet of a heart

It crushed and laid it bare

I shot a kind word into the air

With loving thought and care

A hope and dream it did impart

A Golden Rose

Gold Rose

This little flower wasn’t in the garden of a queen,

Or even in a place where it might be seen,

Yet it was beautifully dressed,

Looking it’s best, as if blessed,

Bringing joy where it dwelt,

Sharing fragrance with any who smelt.

Oh that I, daily might try, to be

An affinity, in similarity.

Facing Fear

Overcoming fear, man jumping over a rock of fear

For many a year

I lived with my greatest fear.

Controlled by his power,

I used to cower

At the thought of leaving him.

But as my eyes became dim,

I had to make a choice

To listen to him, or another’s voice

Who was telling me

From this fear I had to flee.

So as God held my hand,

I made a stand!

I faced that fear, told it to go.

It stared at me, and it said “NO!”

Knees shaking, I dug in my feet,

I was determined it to defeat!

I stood my ground,

New strength I found,

To conquer fear’s intimidating frown,

And make it shrink, and back down.

And then with God’s power I overcame,

I crushed that fear in Jesus’ Name!

Difficult Day

Sunset Victory

What can I say,

About this day?

If my wish were a horse,

I’d have used force,

And just galloped away,

Have my way, and not stay.

But determination won,

And I didn’t run!

This day was not fun,

But now it’s done.

I didn’t give up!

I drank of its bitter cup,

And I came thru,

Battered ‘tis true,

A bit worse for the wear,

But I don’t care!

I didn’t taste defeat,

And Victory’s so sweet!

Sense or Nonsense?

I see the look of the musician,

I think he’s angry at the omission.

He finds it hard to comprehend

Overshadowing the note’s loose end

Causing a chirping like a flamingo

Creating a strange and quirky lingo.

Spoken badly by the blues singer,

Please don’t let this composition linger

Music and song need thought and time

Senses suffer in nonsense rhyme

( I found an online Poem Generator that I decided to try out today.  It had me type in nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc and then it generates what is supposed to be a poem! 🙂  haha.  However, I took what seemed to me to be complete nonsense and rewrote it to at least, perhaps, have some meaning. 🙂
Any thoughts?   What do you think?  Does it make any sense or is it just nonsense?

Imagination Land

Pig flying

Sitting backwards in a corner of my circle

Wearing my Saturday best

I watched as the stars rearranged themselves in the sky

To greet the sun rising in the west

So awestruck was I

I barely ducked a herd of pigs flying by

One of them wearing a polka dot vest

Laughing at me in jest

I turned my back on time as it faced me

The clock striking thirteen in protest

The circle I was in was becoming a square

As a mouse was put to the test

To eat an elephant for lunch

Feeling stressed at his first munch

I was glad I was just a guest

In this imaginary backwards land of reverse

And now I’m choosing to end this verse

NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 22

Prompt: Today, I’d like you to take one of the following statements of something impossible, and then write a poem in which the impossible thing happens:

The sun can’t rise in the west.

A circle can’t have corners.

Pigs can’t fly.

The clock can’t strike thirteen.

The stars cannot rearrange themselves in the sky.

A mouse can’t eat an elephant.

My Future

park pathway
The Lord has future plans for me that are good.
I trust in Him, for I know He will act.
He has plans that are exact.

He will give me an abundant life.
I do not have to worry,
or be in a hurry.

He will provide for me,
As He provides for the birds of the air.
I can depend on His care.

Therefore, I will delight myself in Him,
and trust in Him, for He does guarantee
the desires of my heart He’ll give to me.

As I trust Him and acknowledge Him,
He will direct my paths and make them straight,
And they’ll lead me right to Heaven’s gate.

My eye, nor ear, nor heart, cannot even imagine
what He has prepared for me,
Here on earth and in the Heavenly.

I have faith that He will reward me as I seek Him,
and love Him with all my heart, mind and soul.
That is my future, that is my goal.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)

Simultaneity

Many different hats

Can you take me to town before 3

I really need to talk to PCC

I’m off work at 1 and need a ride you see

Please, don’t forget about me

Have you made those phone calls yet

Sponsors for the Show I need to get

Hope your schedule’s not too tight

We need our new art posted to the site

Have you written that book review

Remember, in just a few days it’s due

Discussion post Thursday deadline

Read lecture and write, no time to whine

Internet shut down, call put on hold

Need a new password I am told

Housework and sleep will just have to wait

So many hats to wear, can’t be late

Time is running, and I am too

Some days there’s just too much to do!

Memo: From Me

Gray Squirrel

Dear Gray Squirrel,

Tell me, what are you looking for!

The bird food you do deplete,

Yet you keep passing by my door,

Is your search never complete?

Your manners I do deplore!

Always looking for a tasty treat!

You’ve had that, yet look for more!

Your greed knows no defeat!

Rhyme

This poem was inspired by the gray squirrel that lives in a tree in my backyard who seems to never get full nor tired. He is always eating or searching. He is cute but can really be a pest at times! 😊
