Mundane walking
Upon blacktop worn
I saw you shining
Bright like the sun
Right beneath my feet
Oil and water mixed
My colorless path
Transformed into
A sunny rainbow
Syllabic Verse
Syllabic verse sets a specific number of syllables per line or per stanza, does not focus on stressed or unstressed feet.

Mundane walking
Upon blacktop worn
I saw you shining
Bright like the sun
Right beneath my feet
Oil and water mixed
My colorless path
Transformed into
A sunny rainbow
Syllabic Verse

Squirrel scampering
Hiding acorns ‘neath
The slumbering vine
Truckload of treasures
Delivers in Winter
Syllabic Verse
🍁The pesky squirrel is back and digging in my plants burying his treasures. He’s cute but I don’t like the fact that he digs in my plants to store his food for winter. 🍂😩

“Out of Order”
The sign said
I didn’t
Like what
I just read
It made me
“Out of Order”
Syllabic Verse
Shopping, rushing to the restroom, stopped by this sign. Stand there and stare blankly for a minute, regroup thoughts, make a plan B and move on.
On a long walk, so thirsty, remember there’s drinking fountain at the park, but a sign says….”Out of Order”–(plan B again)
So tired of walking around the Mall, friend wants to go to the food court on the third level, head to the elevator, but…guess what!!!
I am sure we can all relate to having those “Out of Order” days. They are not fun but they sure slow us down and make us think! 😊

I set you free
Said thee to me
How can this be
Said me to thee
Love is the key
You see, said He
Syllabic Verse/Rhyme

Hospitality
Speaks in many languages
Reaches out to those
Who take the time
To stop and listen
Syllabic Verse
On my walk today, just across the way, I stopped to take this photo of a sign in my neighbor’s yard. Something very nice but unfortunately unusual to see nowadays.

Aged by life’s storms,
Yet displaying beauty,
No matter the season
May I weather like thee
Syllabic Verse

Procrastination
Playing games with time
Putting dreams on hold
Complacent to rest
Up against a fence
Syllabic Verse

Oh my, mercy me
Tonight it ends
No more are we
Saving daylight
Standard will be
Courting darkness
Daylight will flee
And hide away
Til it’s set free
In the Springtime
Rhyme/Syllabic Verse (4 syllables)

Hanging on to fear
Living in the past
Chasing dreams away
Life goes too fast
Release that fear
Live in the present
Chase dreams to catch
Life goes too fast
Syllabic Verse

Like a fading leaf
I wonder as I age
And detach from life
On my aged tree
Just what the end will be
I am trusting and
Praying that God’s angels
Catch me when I fall
Asleep on this earth
And like the wind
Gently take me up
To my eternal home
Where I will live on
In the God’s presence
On His Tree of Life
