Sizzling Summer Sunset

Summer Sunset on July 4th

July 4th

God’s Fireworks

Light up the horizon

And set nighttime heavens soundlessly

Ablaze!

Cinquain

(As our neighborhood and city was putting on a very noisey fireworks display, God entered with the most beautiful brilliant sunset that awed many)

Blind Birds?

Doves, Birdbath, yard, springtime

Blessings

Within their reach

Abundantly given

Yet they seek the world’s meager scraps

Instead

Cinquain

My daughter sat on her porch and watched the two doves walk down the street together as if they were humans out for an evening stroll.

They had visited her yard previously to check it out, tasting of its goodness, yet today they bypassed her fresh green yard overflowing with beautiful foliage, birdseed, and a water filled birdbath, to forage in the dry, dusty gutter. Were they blind to the goodness nearby that was offered to them so freely, or did they just stubbornly choose to ignore it, determinedto live their in own way?

It makes one ponder if we humans are the same. Do we walk blindly through this world, seeking to find blessings and happiness in our own way while all the while passing by the goodness God has provided to those who will stop to believe and receive From Him?

Sweet Sound

Woman Doctor speaking “All Healed”

“All healed”

Is what I heard.

Doctor’s smile and good words

Are a gift many don’t receive.

Blessing!

NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 23

“when you hear it, you write it down.” Today, we challenge you to honor this idea with a poem based in sound. The poem, for example, could incorporate overheard language. Perhaps it could incorporate a song lyric in some way, or language from something often heard spoken aloud (a prayer, a pledge, the Girl Scout motto). Or you could use a regional or local phrase from your hometown that you don’t hear elsewhere
