Delightful Day

Daffodils

First day of Spring

Sun is shining bright

Daffodils

Sashaying

To the music of songbirds

In the gentle breeze

Enjoying the new life

Springing up all around me

Singing and dancing

With the birds and daffodils

Shaking off winter doldrums

Spring Sights, Sounds and Smells

Yellow Daffodil

Green shoots popping up,

Patches of yellow abound,

Spring has come again!

Haiku

I felt like Chicken Little today as everywhere I went I kept saying “ Spring is here! Spring is here!”

It may not say Spring yet on the calendar but it was very present all around my area today.

I was seeing patches of yellow daffodils in my neighbors yards and green shoots of more to come soon, hearing birds singing and lawnmowers humming, smelling fresh cut grass and enjoying the bright sunshine! What a delightful change from the damp, dark, cold days of winter!

Yes, Spring weather is here and I am enjoying every moment of it!

What will this day bring?

Birds begin to sing,

What a cheerful sound!

Signs of Spring abound.

Daffodils in bloom,

Chase winter’s gloom.

Winter’s letting go,

My heart’s all aglow!

Spring in My Step

Today as I was walking downtown in search of a restaurant, my eyes beheld a strange sight. I was passing by an old abandoned theatre and there, in the entrance way were scattered 5 fresh, bright golden daffodils, just waiting for a leading lady to pick up. How fortuitous for me!

Haiku Horizons Weekly Challenge Week#208 Prompt: Vanish

Our Pacific Northwest has been enjoying an unseasonably mild February this year causing flowers to bloom early and folks to feel as though Spring has come. However this morning Winter decided to let us all know that it was still hanging around by sending us a flurry of big heavy wet snowflakes. causing our lovely early bloomers to get covered in white. Thankfully the snow didn’t last long and the sun came out to melt it all away.
