On this Eve
Of a New Year’s dawn,
Old and new
Thoughts abound.
As I pack away the past,
And open new doors.

Thoughts on the New Year…
Remain on the beaten path
Or forge a new trail?
Relax in my comfort zone
Or try something brand new?

Bad influences
Disguised as our friends
Wreck havoc
Destroy dreams
Leaving us wondering why
We didn’t say “No”

December’s days ending,
The New year countdown begins,
Such bittersweet times.

“Just grin and bear it!”
“Put on a smile and wear it!”
“Cheer up! That’s just life!”
Cliches meant to uplift us,
Are often cause for more strife.

Quietly Christmas fades
Leaving memories for all
Some treasures, some tears

Christmas is a special time for me!
Yet I know for some it may not be.
And so at this time of the year,
When my heart is full of cheer,
I want to also acknowledge you,
Who may not be feeling as I do.
Though my wish is bright and clear,
For a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
I want to offer these thoughts too,
Of Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings to you.
And even for those who don’t celebrate,
I do not hesitate,
To wish you well in all you do,
And offer my thanks to you.
I appreciate all who follow me,
And where ever you may be,
I send my heartfelt greetings,
and hope for many more poetic meetings!

Prayer plant flourishing!
Plants reflect environment?
Peace plant doing poorly,
But as long as there is life,
There is hope for peace to grow.
