Resolute Rose

Peach Rose--Tanka poetry
Original Photograph and Poetry by Leona J. Atkinson©2014

I saw this beautiful Peach Rose today growing in a somewhat abandoned area of old factories and thought it so odd that such a thing of beauty should be growing so voraciously even though obviously unattended to, but apparently someone, at sometime, had planted it there.
Well, I just had to pull over, climb through the weeds and photograph it and while doing so I was reminded of the quote
“Bloom Where You are Planted”.  🙂

Ol’ Red

Geranium
Red Geranium

Sturdy, staunch, old fashioned flower
The staple of gardens in spring.
Your beautiful blooms last into fall
Three seasons of color you bring.
A true bloomer are you.
A plant so easy to grow.
Many a Gardener calls you friend.
Geranium, you, I am proud to know.

To the Blossoming Bush Along the Way

Blossoming Bush
Blossoming Bush

Little bush I know not your name,

Though twice a day I pass you by.
May I stop to admire you,
Who I can’t identify?
For your presence brightens up my path,
As I walk along the way,
and your white starry blossoms,
Seem to only flower in May.
Thanks for the beauty you add to my day!
