Queen of the Tree

dog, tree, Tanka poem

Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2016

Marilyn is my grand-daughter’s dog. When the big tree in the family’s backyard was knocked down by storms this winter Marilyn chose to run up to the end of the remaining stump and stand as if on guard!
(Instead of being “King of the Hill” she is “Queen of the Tree”! 🙂
She seems to mimic her daddy, Jack, whom we call “The Sentry or Guard Dog”

Neapolitan Sky

Neapolitan Sky--Photo and Haiku

I was inspired to write this Haiku after seeing this photo posted in a group called “Cloud Watching and Beautiful Skyscapes” that I belong to on Facebook. As soon as I saw the photo I thought of Neapolitan!
Michelle, who took this photo, gave me permission to post it here on my blog along with the Haiku I wrote.  I am so glad to be able to share this beautiful sky photo with you and the Haiku as well.
