I really want to draw
I really want to create
But my life says “No”
You really must just wait
Practicality wins
Creativity I abate

On Excelsior!
Higher and always upward,
Though shades of night fall,
Your youth shall bring victory!
Though sadness and sorrow
Threaten in the storms of life,
Carry your banner high!
Faint thee not! Excelsior!
Your help comes from above!

(This poem was inspired by reading “Excelsior” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

Walking thru this life
Following a trail of stars
Searching for my dream
Haiku

Old man time and I
On the the longest day of the year
Measuring minutes
Haiku
First Day of Summer—Longest Day of the Year

Seeking a quiet place
In this world
Where dreams can live
Syllable Lune

Determined feet
Walking on a cinder path
Risen from the ashes
Tredding upon broken dreams
Seeking a new foundation
Tanka

Confused, or just
Intensely curious,
Moth flies to the flame
Haiku

Come and sit a spell
Take a time out today
For a flower smell
Drink in its fragrant perfume
Let the aroma quell
Your anxious heart today
Come and sit a spell
Take a time out today
Enjoy this moment in time

Some words on paper
Come alive and touch people
The alphabet will speak
A heartfelt message of truth
To those willing to hear
