Coming Soon

Sky, sun, clouds
The Eclipse is coming!

Strange behavior seen

The heavenlies react

Clumulus run from the sun

Cloud chaos in the sky

Mares tails sweep the heavens

The Eclipse is coming

The moon silently awaits

Its two minutes of fame

Time Goes By

Sunrise, Moon
Day becomes night so soon

No sooner than the sun rises

Then there comes the moon

Day becomes night so soon

Quickly morning turns to afternoon

Time never apologizes

Day becomes night so soon

No sooner than the sun rises

NaPoWriMo–Day 2–prompt:  constellations

This prompt inspired me to write this poem of childhood memories of clear night skies out in the country where we lived, looking up at all the stars and listening to dad tell us about the constellations and point out which ones we were seeing.

Last Night

Waxing Moon--Venus--Haiku
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015

Sorry the picture is not very good.  Sigh….I wish I had a really good camera to capture some of the amazing sights I see!  I was so excited to see this moon and bright star last night (which I later found out was Venus) but quite disappointed that I could not take a good picture of it.   For more information and better picture visit  EarthSky.org
