Rows of hungry faces stand
So many hungry

Morris the Queen
Senryu
(Tribute to Morris, my grandson’s cat, who is about 12 years old now. He got her as a baby kitten and though she was female he. Ames her Morris because she looks just like the famous Morris on Nine Lives. She has truly been a wonderful family cat.)

In a hard place.
Life is full of rocks.
Trying to dig.
Determined.
Seek to make a difference.
A “Hard Row to Hoe”.
Not giving
This “Hard Row to Hoe”
Victory.
I will win!
I will not ever give up!
I will overcome!

(This poem was written in response to a suggestion made by our poetry class instructor. She said to imagine what Snow White felt like when she first opened her eyes after the Prince kissed her. So…I imagined…and this Shadorma was the result.😊)

Dying leaf leaves dye
Haiku
Today while I was out walking, I happened to notice some leaf imprints on a large area of the concrete sidewalk here where I live. I had never seen this before so of course I took a picture and then researched it online to see the cause. I found that when leaves fall onto concrete and lay there decaying they excrete a dye called tannin that stains the concrete and so leaves their image when they are removed. The dye stains can be removed by detergent and scrubbing. I found this to be quite interesting!
