Take Time to Care

Triple Shadorma poem about taking time to care inspired by a Fall leaf photo
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2014

I hope you enjoyed my first Triple Shadorma poem that was inspired by encountering this little leaf.

I dedicate this poem to all the elderly people who are now in nursing homes or care centers living out their lives perhaps in loneliness, hopelessness, or feeling no one cares. This little leaf I saw today reminded me of them.
This leaf reminded me to stop in the middle of my busy life to think of ways to reach out and care for others.
I am glad I am a part of a ministry (Expressions of Miriam Ministries)  that volunteers to go into these homes to visit with the people there and perhaps uplift and encourage them in some way by bringing the joy of life and the love of God into their waning lives.

Sweet Summer

Sweet Summer-Senryu poem about Cotton Candy
Original Photographs and Poetry by Leona J. Atkinson ©2014

Wrote this after purchasing a package of Betty Crocker Cotton Candy Cookie Mix and Betty Crocker Cotton Candy Frosting.
Cookies look, taste and smell just like cotton candy!  They reminded me of visits to the fair in the summer where we would always get cotton candy.

Patriotic Pantoum

Flowing over me,
Come thoughts of liberty,
Every time our Flag I see,
Flying over land or sea.

Come!  Thoughts  of liberty.
I welcome you to dwell in me,
Every time our Flag I see.
For you’re a reminder I am free!

I welcome you to dwell in me,
Patriotic thoughts of liberty!
For you’re a reminder I am free.
At times I need you desperately!

Patriotic thoughts of liberty,
Every time our Flag I see.
At times I need you desperately,
Flowing over me.

Pantoum-rhyme scheme aaaa
(This is my first attempt at writing a Pantoum.  It was a challenge, and even more so, because I chose to rhyme it aaaa instead of the usual abab)
