Watching as you leave…
August, you brought lots of sunshine,
Must I say goodbye?
I am not looking forward
To those Fall days
Of less sun and shorter days
That September brings.
Oh, that Summertime would linger
Instead of running away.

Remembering winter
Keeps me cool, as the
Summer sun beats down
Syllabic Verse
These last few days have really been hot here in my area, 100 degree days. It’s pretty hot but I am not complaining because I remember how long it took for our weather to warm up and how many chilly days we had to endure waiting for this summer weather.
So I am just doing my best to stay fairly cool and enjoy it while it lasts because summer will be gone before long!
In the early morn,
Rising with the summer sun,
Waking with the birds,
I sit among trees and flowers,
Sipping coffee as
Windchimes serenade me.
A squirrel scurries,
Butterflies flutter, bees buzz.
My garden shuts out the world.

Each day
Above us loom
Clouds of uncertainty
Attempting to blanket our hope
We sigh,
And then,
We see the sun, our smiling friend,
Appear, chasing the clouds,
Restoring hope,
And life
Butterfly Cinquain
I arose early
But not before the sun
Opening the blinds
Revealed a gray squirrel
Burying his treasures
In my plants, (little rascal)
As the coffee perked
I watched events unfold
Sleep would’ve hidden from me
Maintenence man
Digging up the dead bushes
In my back yard
Birds chattering at stray cat
Cars passing by as
My little corner of world
Awakens to another
Day of life, unknowing what it
Will bring, we all grasp it with hope
Double Choka
Seeking better days,
With some sunshine in life?
Looking for the light?
Are you standing in the sun
Or sitting in the shadows?

The sun peeked out
Winter held its icy breath
Spring kissed my cheek
Haiku
As I enjoyed an unseasonably warm day of nearly 60 degrees today, my thoughts were on Spring.
Burden’s gone
I’ve been set free
From sin’s snare
And death’s grip
I sit in the heavenly places
Safe at Jesus feet

In the Fall season of life
It seems the sun wanes,
It’s lost its strength.
It doesn’t cast warm rays as long,
Nor with as great intensity,
As when in its summer season
Of life.
Then it was so bright and strong,
Vibrant, heated, remaining long,
But now it’s lost it’s fervor.
Yet, it still shines.
It still rises.
It still does what it was created to do.
It gives light,
Even though limited.
It doesn’t give up.
It shows up.
Do you?

The sun envelopes
Bees, birds and squirrels visit
Lazy summer day
Breeze carries children’s laughter
And sounds of the ice cream truck
