I captured this photo today as I was walking out of a store.

It was a very rainy day today but for just a short time the rain let up and the sun came out and that is the time I usually see oil slicks in parking lots.

Well this image stopped me in my tracks because it was not only a pretty oil slick but it was also reflecting a nearby tree in it which I thought made a beautiful scene.

Strong Standing Faith—Faith Standing Strong

Tree in leaves blowing in wind, rooted deep

Tree holding strongly

Roots digging deeply

Un-battered,Un-broken

Leaves swaying

Branches dancing wildly

Whipping winds lashing

Tree standing firm

Rooted deep

Unshaken

Deep rooted

Firm standing tree

Lashing winds whipping

Wildly dancing branches

Swaying leaves

Un-broken, Un-battered

Deeply digging roots

Strongly holding tree

Palindrome

Since today is a “Palindrome Day”—9/19/19–19/19/9, I decided to write a Palindrome Poem.

Rooted in the Word

Quote from Chuck Swindoll from his book “Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life”

How long

The winds do blow

Upon my weary head!

I dig in my heels, standing firm

In Him.

Cinquain

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV

Unusual Sighting

Crab in a tree

Once upon a tree

Crab leaves his comfort zone

Unhappily everafter

Senryu

While on a recent visit to an Oregon coastal town I came upon this unusual sight as I was out walking to the beach.

There, high in a bush, was a crab. It was not alive, but it looked real.

I was puzzled at how it had gotten there but I never did find out, so I imagined the positive and decided it must have went on an adventure one day, took a challenge from a seagull to climb a tree and ended up not being able to get back down.

The positive part is that it was adventurous, it left it’s comfort zone and took a chance, many of us don’t do that out of fear or complacity, and even though perhaps the crab didn’t end up with the happy ending he’d hoped for, at least he won at his life’s challenge and

had the satisfaction that he tried something new.

Something to think about….
