I must bid a friend goodbye
My tears speak instead

An afternoon walk
The scent of Honeysuckle
Perfumes the damp air

Chilly cloudy June day
Running errands in the rain
Summer seems to have gone

June, today you are twenty four,
And soon, you will be no more.
I wonder what your final days hold in store?
What adventures will you have me explore,
In the next six days, before,
July comes to shut your door?

Sunny days are here
Umbrellas now put away
Many take vacations
Mountains and beaches are visited
Evenings are often spent outdoors
Relatives gather at family picnics
Time is made for outside activities
Indoors is not where most want to be
Music and laughter are all around
Everyone enjoys summertime
Happy First Day of Summer! June 21, 2013

Glorious sunset

Picnickers mumble and go home
The thirsty forest rejoices

So many faces on the stage
But I only see you

Tanka
(My first try at writing a Tanka, which is 5-7-5-7-7 syllables with the third line as a pivot)
To day is National Ball Point Pen Day
Brothers, Laszlo and Gyorgy Biro, are credited with the invention of the ballpoint pen and obtained a patent in June of 1943.
