A Golden Rose

Gold Rose

This little flower wasn’t in the garden of a queen,

Or even in a place where it might be seen,

Yet it was beautifully dressed,

Looking it’s best, as if blessed,

Bringing joy where it dwelt,

Sharing fragrance with any who smelt.

Oh that I, daily might try, to be

An affinity, in similarity.

Today’s Choice

Paper Mixed Media Art, bird, flower, heart
Mixed Media Collage Art by Leonas Designs 2018

What will you be today?

A beautiful bird

Singing a cheerful song,

Or a negative voice

That tears down others hopes?

What will you be today?

A beautiful flower

Sharing its sweet fragrance,

Or a cold bitter brook

Drowning in past regrets?

What will you be today?

A heart filled with love

Spreading joy to everyone,

Or just an empty shell

Casting shadows of doubt?

What will you be today?

The choice is yours alone.

You can change the world

Or let the world change you.

Inkling of Sprinkling

Red Rose in snow

Winter’s Breakfast Treat

Nighttime dusting of snow

Powdered Sugar

Haiku

Winter just keeps showing up overnight and leaves us with traces of snow to wake up to. Poor blooming plants are not appreciating the nighttime visits. Thankfully it melts quickly at morning light.

Tragedy

Wanted poster for Camilla thief

Tearful eyes speaking

“Goodbye my Camellia

Fairest flower of red.

Before us you were wisked

Away by a thief,

A mischievious marauder

Living in a tree

Near your fragrant scarlet blooms.

His greed became your demise.”

Choka

I just saw that pesky gray Squirrel who is a frequent visitor to my yard snatch a beautiful red blossom off my new Camilla plant I just bought!

As I watched, frozen in horror, he scurried up the tree to sit on a branch munching on it for his mid morning snack.
