As I walk through this life
I can change many things
But I can’t change you
I can change my habits
But I can’t change yours
I can control my actions
But can’t control yours
I can do so many things
But only God can change you

You go to bed before the sun sets
I am a night owl, burning the midnight oil
Yet we are friends
You like hazelnuts, spice cake, and tea
I like licorice, mint and coffee
Yet we are friends
You like cool nights and enjoy the rain
I like it warm and enjoy hot summer days
Yet we are friends
You like flip flops and air conditioning
I like sneakers and natural air
Yet we are still friends
Your skin is a different color from mine
My skin is a different color from yours
Yet we are friends
We are all different
We are all unique
That’s what makes us each special
We all have likes and dis-likes
Our skin maybe a different color
But we can still all be friends
We can agree to disagree
Walk in friendship and love
And enjoy a life of harmony
Sharing with each other
Every nation, tribe, language and people.
For we are all God’s Masterpiece according to Ephesians 2:10
Free Verse

I really don’t know what I’d do
If I were you and you were me
I might celebrate my debut
I really don’t know what I’d do
I might enjoy me being you
But us being reversed is a mystery
I really don’t know what I’d do
If I were you and you were me

69 years ago this day
A baby was born.
No one knew at that time
The baby was me.
It took all those years
To create the me I am today.
So, on this remembrance day of my birth,
I want to thank God for my life,
And praise Him for all He has done to make me–me.
