In the Latter Season of Life

Fall season

In the Fall season of life

It seems the sun wanes,

It’s lost its strength.

It doesn’t cast warm rays as long,

Nor with as great intensity,

As when in its summer season

Of life.

Then it was so bright and strong,

Vibrant, heated, remaining long,

But now it’s lost it’s fervor.

Yet, it still shines.

It still rises.

It still does what it was created to do.

It gives light,

Even though limited.

It doesn’t give up.

It shows up.

Do you?

Abstract or Fact

Two Images of grease on a grill. One original and one digitally enhanced
Original left—Altered right—@Leona J. Atkinson photos 2019

Don’t believe all you see

Things aren’t always as they seem

What looks real may not be

Don’t believe all you see

Could be false or reality

Could be true or just a dream

Don’t believe all you see

Things aren’t always as they seem

Triolet

My mom used to always say “Don’t believe anything you read and only half of what you see”.

I was reminded of this today as I took a photo last night of the left over cooled grease on my grill. I had cooked a hamburger for supper and when I went to clean the grill the grease and bits of leftover cheese had formed an interesting pattern, I thought, so I snapped a picture and just for fun put the image into one of the photo enhancing apps I have to see what would result if I edited it a bit.

The result was quite awesome!

What transformed was somewhat of a celestial looking image I thought. Certainly not something that looked like grease and cheese on a grill! 😊

Goes to show mom was right. Things aren’t always as they seem or look like.

What do you think?

Strong Standing Faith—Faith Standing Strong

Tree in leaves blowing in wind, rooted deep

Tree holding strongly

Roots digging deeply

Un-battered,Un-broken

Leaves swaying

Branches dancing wildly

Whipping winds lashing

Tree standing firm

Rooted deep

Unshaken

Deep rooted

Firm standing tree

Lashing winds whipping

Wildly dancing branches

Swaying leaves

Un-broken, Un-battered

Deeply digging roots

Strongly holding tree

Palindrome

Since today is a “Palindrome Day”—9/19/19–19/19/9, I decided to write a Palindrome Poem.

Rooted in the Word

Quote from Chuck Swindoll from his book “Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life”

How long

The winds do blow

Upon my weary head!

I dig in my heels, standing firm

In Him.

Cinquain

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV

This or That

Scatter kindness mixed media art
“Scatter Kindness” mixed media ATC by Leona J. Atkinson

Scattered

Everywhere

Tiny seeds of kindness

Some grew and joyfully to me

Returned

Cinquain

In the morning sow your seed,

And in the evening do not withhold your hand;

For you do not know which will prosper,

Either this or that,

Or whether both alike will be good.

EccL. 11:6 NKJV
