Suddenly
A flash of blue
On a bleak winter day
Barren berry bush gave him
Away
Cinquain
Today a blue jay visited my yard. I wasn’t quick enough to snap his picture so I had to draw one instead 😊

Abundant food sources
Vanished with the Springtime
Lonely Robin
Seeking a fruit bearing bush
Wanders among the raindrops
Tanka
This Robin chose not to fly South for the Winter I guess. I saw him hopping around my yard in the rain and was surprised to find out that not all Robins fly South, but some stick around and eat fruit in the Wintertime. (Photo is not very clear as I had to snap it quickly using my phone thru my patio window from quite a distance)

“So sorry”, said the deer
“I had a night craving for
Lilacs and Lilys.”

(Sad to say this is a true story ( except of course the deer didn’t apologize 😊)
My garden plants blooms are becoming food for the deer and squirrels who populate my area.

In the Autumn we mourn
One who left too soon
Lily, November born
Bid us ‘bye neath the moon
Full of joy was Lil’ Lily
Happy baby elephant
Playful and sweet was she
In spirit, confident
Though illness took her away
From us and her family
We honor her today
For her sweet memory
Elegy
I am saddened by this news as I remember when Lily was born and everyone in Portland got the opportunity to vote on a name for her. I voted for the name Lily and was so happy it was chosen for her. It fit her perfectly. She was so sweet, lively, joyful and happy. She would have been 6 years old today 😪
In loving memory of Lily.
Her confident, happy spirit will always be in our hearts 🌹 pic.twitter.com/imPze35rXy— Oregon Zoo (@OregonZoo) November 30, 2018

November winds blow
And leaves huddle together
Raindrops falling fast

Mundane walking
Upon blacktop worn
I saw you shining
Bright like the sun
Right beneath my feet
Oil and water mixed
My colorless path
Transformed into
A sunny rainbow
Syllabic Verse

Thankful for full plates now empty
Thankful for hands that cook and bake
Thankful for another day
Thankful for hearts that care
Thankful for thirst now quenched
Thankful for warm places
Thankful for
My life
Thankful
Nonet

Thank you God
For the trees that wave
Good Morning
To me
As I gaze in wonder
At he whose wings beat wildly
While he drinks nectar
In the rain
The breeze brings
a brown leaf to greet me
Upon the window pane
He stops briefly
As if to say
We are both aged
yet
let’s keep moving, seeking,
Another day of life
As if on cue
future minded squirrel
scurries past
gathering acorns
supplied by the waving trees
Ah, so much life surrounds me!
I give thanks
For all that be
and for eyes that see
thru the window to the world
Just outside my door
Where all God’s creation breathes
And lives
And encourages me
To do the same.
