As Time Goes By

Pen writing “Once upon a time” on paper

Life is passing by

Enjoy the living moments

While you have time

Savor every moment

Before it is gone

Grasping all those good times

While they’re in reach

Will give you good memories

A storehouse of treasures

It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It’s called living. —Terry Pratchett

“You’re known by

The company you keep,” or

Plum Talk

Plum tree full of ripe purple plums

I’ve been Plum tired,

And at times Plum tuckered,

But Plum crazy I’m not

Senryu

A bit of humor in my poem today. 😊

Seeing this plum tree while on my walk a few days ago caused me to remember some old phrases my dad used to say when I was a kid.

NaPoWriMo 2013, #27–Proverbs and Old Sayings

Old sayings and proverbs
were what my parents often used
to teach a lesson or make a point.

As a child, I would not be amused,
to hear them speak
with wisdom and wit that was against my will.

Yet now, I the same wisdom I do seek
as a parent relating to my child.

I find myself now repeating
the proverbs and sayings of old,
hoping to convey the message
just as I was told.
