Worrying thoughts creep
Disturbing sleep
Fears rise steep
Calm hard to keep
Doubts start to heap
But faith runs deep
Causing joy to leap
Courage to seep
And victory does reap
Rhyme
Worrying thoughts creep
Disturbing sleep
Fears rise steep
Calm hard to keep
Doubts start to heap
But faith runs deep
Causing joy to leap
Courage to seep
And victory does reap
Rhyme
Without any care,
No matter world circumstances,
The rose still blooms
Oh that I should be as trusting
To do the same as it does
Tanka
Step by step
You will make it soon
Fortitude
Certitude
Determined steps always
Keep moving forward

This poem is based on an experience I had this summer where I faced a block walk up a steep hill, i had already walked nearly 4 miles, it was a hot day, I had no water with me, there was no place to stop and rest. I was tempted to quit, turn around, give up, but I didn’t and I am glad. It was difficult but I made it, slowly, one step at a time. And, as I look back now that was one of my best days, as I felt I had accomplished something that at the time seemed impossible.
Sometimes life is that way. Sometimes we want to just quit, give up, stop caring, stop trying, for just getting through the day seems like we are walking up a steep hill, with no place to stop and take a break, no refreshment or reprieve in sight, but if we keep moving forward, slowly, we will make it—one step at a time.
Never. Ever. Give Up.
Life seemed mediocre
As it sometimes can be
I didn’t sit and mope
But made hum drums flee
Rose up, did what i could
Actively fought mediocrity
Now happily I can say
There’s no more nonentity
