A Time For Prayer

Praying hands

Dismal

Rain drizzels down

Overcast and cloudy

This weather matches many’s mood

As they

Try to

Navigate through an unsettled

World of tragic events

Sadly seeming

Unceasing

Butterfly Cinquain

As we have slowly been moving toward a happier time of things once again starting to open up and get back to normal, enjoying warmer temperatures and a lifting of the virus, we are now in the US facing a time of senseless violence, brutal hatred, tearful sadness and racial rioting.

I am praying for our country and all people today in this sad time of rioting.

These are perilous times for all of us upon the earth as we have faced fires in Australia, a worldwide Virus pandemic and now nationwide racism rioting.

As I awoke to a dramatic weather change this morning going from sunny warm dry 70-80 degree days to a dark cloudy chilly rainy day in the 50’s, I felt the current weather was mimicking the news reports and the rain was God’s tears falling in response to the tragic death of George Floyd.

Therefore, I am praying for peace and goodwill for all peoples on earth.

I pray for a gentle healing rain that will put out the fires of hatred and wash away the prejudices as it brings a time of refreshing and healing to all of us.

May the clouds of dark thoughts disappear to let the light of justice and hope shine upon us, and may we, as people of all colors, find peace in the valley of our hearts.

God’s Hand

Hand drawing, Psalm 91background, red heart in center with words Hope, Help, Healing
Art by Leona J. Atkinson 2020

Hope, Help, Healing

Are in my God’s palm today

He’s reaching forth to

Bring His hope and help worldwide

And healing to the nations

Tanka

As I was praying this morning for my family, friends, fellow believers, myself, and the nations of people worldwide, tears of sorrow came to me as I prayed against this virus which seems to be covering the world.

I asked that the blood of Jesus might come to cover us instead.

I asked that there be a worldwide revival so people might be drawn to God and come to know Him as His hand is not too short to save anyone anywhere.

As I was praying I had a vision of God’s Hand extended. He was holding out His hand and in His Palm were the words Hope, Help, Healing.

This is what He is offering to all of us today, anywhere we are, worldwide.

If you are looking for Hope, Help, or Healing, He is offering it to you.

Take His Hand and receive what you need. He is a good God who will never leave you, nor forsake you in this time of pandemic or anytime.

He will always be near to bring Hope, Help and Healing to your mind, body and soul night or day.

Flu

Corona Virus symbol

Some words we like

Others not so much

These days it’s true

There’s one word

No one wants to hear

“CoronaVirus”

We can’t stop our ears

From hearing it’s sound

Or close our eyes

To block it from sight

But we can focus

Our minds to not dwell

On this dismal word

We can use prayer

To ask for our God’s help

And for His wisdom

And strength at this time

Syllabic Verse

Praying this word is soon no longer part of our vocabulary.

World’s Spinning Wheel

Spinning Ferris Wheel

What I’m hearing so unreal!

Things happening so surreal!

So to God I appeal,

Ask Him To reveal,

Just how I should deal,

With this strange ordeal,

And still try to be genteel.

He said “ Don’t let it your faith steal,

Nor let fear loudly peal.

My word is true and real,

And My hand can surely heal.

So don’t live by how things feel

For to Me all things must kneel.“

Beyond a Glance

Original art drawings of 33 Dots progression
Original 33 Dots art-Leona J. Atkinson 2020

Looking with your heart

Through the eyes of God

Reveals hidden things

Syllable Lune

This week I chose to do a 33 Dot Art Drawing.

It was explained as an experience to discover hidden things in your art that at first glance your eyes might not see but that through prayer God might want to reveal to you.

It sounded intriguing so I decided to try it.

Instructions are: with paper and pencil shut your eyes and make 33 dots on the paper. Open eyes and connect the dots in one continuous line without lifting the pencil from the paper.

Pray and ask God to show you what He might want you to see or what He wants to reveal to you.

It might take some time to see and know exactly what that might be, because for me, at first glance, I only saw Disney animals in my dot drawing—Goofy, Pluto and Dumbo, but then after a few days of prayer and pondering I saw the Hammer, and then the Bible verse in Jeremiah 23:29 came to mind.

The end result was an amazing work of art that I feel God wanted me to create!

Mending the Broken Pieces

Broken windchimb

Discouraged, tearfully

I picked up the broken pieces.

Another trial.

Reaching for the Light of hope

To show me the way

I prayed for healing and strength

To mend broken wings

So I might fly, to try again

‘Til I reach heaven’s reward

Strength, Calm, Acceptance

“Our heart mends as our inner self—the central or innermost part of our identity—is wrapped around the Light inside of us, rather than around the people who have harmed us. This one small step changes the way we see things”. Suzanne Eller

Functioning Faith

Mustard seeds

Planting mustard seeds

On my knees, moving mountains,

Breaking down barriers.

Senryu

Believe and Pray:

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17:20 KJV

Priorities

Hands clasped in prayer

So much that’s new

So much to do

So much to say

So much to pray

Syllabic Verse

Take time to pray

Prayer is man’s greatest power!

W. Clement Stone

Time to Pray

I got up early one morning

and rushed right into the day;

I had so much to accomplish

that I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,

and heavier came each task.

“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered.

He answered, “You didn’t ask.”

I wanted to see joy and beauty,

but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;

I wondered why God didn’t show me.

He said, “But you didn’t seek.”

I tried to come into God’s presence;

I used all my keys at the lock.

God gently and lovingly chided,

“My child, you didn’t knock.”

I woke up early this morning,

and paused before entering the day;

I had so much to accomplish

that I had to take time to pray.

Faith

Faith alphabet art sign by LeonasDesigns
Alphabet Art ©️LeonasDesigns

Not once, in all times I’ve cried,

Coming to you broken,

In sorrow on bended knee,

Heart burdened with pain,

Not once, have You not heard.

Yet, of certain things

You’ve not replied though

In tears I ask again and again.

My heart knows as I walk

Taking steps my eyes can’t see,

That someday soon You will answer,

Fulfilling things hoped for

By this trusting soul, for

Not once, have You not heard.

Family Peace

Rocks with hieroglyphic type wet imprints on them

Wet Footprints

Two hieroglyphics

Imprinted

Two symbols

Upon two rocks temporily

Ponder the meaning

Shadorma

Today my grand-son and I were outside in my yard taking some pictures of him before he left on a trip to do a show in Seattle. He is a music artist who performs hip hop. The grass was wet as it had rained earlier. As we walked back to go inside we had to step on some river rock I have near my patio. I happened to look down and saw that our shoes had left some strange looking imprints on various rocks. Two rocks in particular I noticed as looking like having hieroglyphic symbols on them, so I snapped a couple pics. Upon doing an internet search on hieroglyphic images I came to see a somewhat similarity to the symbols for Peace and Family, in some images of the Chinese alphabet, and family peace is something that I recently have been praying for. Is it too far fetched to think these wet shoe markings could be telling me we are taking steps towards Family Peace? I am not one who believes in co-incidences and I see meaning in many unordinary things. So I am led to believe perhaps God sent this as a sign to us.
