Loud upon my windowpane
My mind wants it not
Earnestly my ears try to ignore
Yet persistant is the rain

“The Tree” was a beautiful addition to my daughter’s yard. In the springtime it was full of beautiful pink flowers, in the summer it provided welcome shade from the hot sun, and it’s big branch held a swing for the kids. But…over the years, with all the Oregon rain, it began to bend and break, it’s roots just couldn’t hold on any longer and finally last winter during a bad storm it fell. Now, all that is left of it is pictures, a sweet memory, firewood and it’s stump, where one green shoot is now growing up, perhaps to be it’s replacement.

So, today was the 1st day of March. It was cold, rainy, windy and then calm and sunshiny. “March of many weathers” my mom used to always say, and it was true of today as off and on we had some crazy weather. I guess I would say March “came in like a lion” so then it should go out “like a lamb” if that old saying is true.:)

As I was hurrying through the dark parking lot to go into the grocery store, I pulled my coat tight around me as it was chilly and rainy. All of a sudden a bright warm feeling entered my heart. There in the midst of it all I heard the sweet voice of a little child singing. Seemingly unaware of the weather, she waited patiently for her mom to load groceries into the car, as she sang a little melody all her own. 🙂 I had to smile. A good reminder to be joyful in all circumstances! 🙂
