Beauty
In the brown and gold
Tears for times
Past when we
Young and verdant without care
Lived the high life

Dressed in flaming red
Standing tall, yet she weeps for
The warm days of summer

Though summer left, the roses remain
Monoku
(The sturdy rose bush by my front door continues to bloom beautifully even in these Fall days .)

Autumn arrives overnight
Unzipping her bag of colors
Trees brace for her creative touch
Unfazed, she sets to work painting
Masterpieces, that bow and fall
Neath her feet to create carpets of color

August tried to warn
Us of her impending move.
She sent us cool drafts,
Chilling memos of warning.
Yet, wrapped in sweaters
We missed her exiting.
Undercover of night,
With just the moon as witness,
Fall bearing September came.

Years, Tears, and Fears
Evaporated and gone.
Seasons and Reasons in
Time have passed on.
Each moment now spent
Reliving them is pointless.
Days of old are done,
All just memories of the Past.
Yearning won’t bring them back.
Seek today and live!
