[NaPoWriMo–Day 23] [April 2014 PAD Challenge–Day23–Location poem]
“Just grin and bear it!”
“Put on a smile and wear it!”
“Cheer up! That’s just life!”
Cliches meant to uplift us,
Are often cause for more strife.

Every day has its challenges.
All life has ups and downs.
Many a day problems will come,
And turn smiles into frowns.
Focusing on what should have been,
And complaining negatively,
Is not going to change the present,
Or make “if only” come to be.
Therefore when upsets come,
It’s best to just smile and say,
“This isn’t what I hoped would happen,
But I’ll make the best of it anyway”

The Cheshire Cat,
Was quite a diplomat.
Befriending Alice for awhile,
He listened, taught, and left his smile.

There’s power in a smile
To chase a frown away.
It will uplift a gloomy spirit,
And cheer up someone’s day!
We all have one we can use,
So let’s put it on for those we meet.
It costs nothing to wear,
And it’s beauty can’t be beat!

June 15th is a day specially set aside to celebrate the smile and encourage everyone to share one!

Little yellow blossoms,
Often picked without much stem,
By little hands seeking flowers for Mother.
Children love you.
To them you are beautiful, and you’re free!
They can gather you and make crowns,
And chains, and rub you under their chins to see if they like butter.
How fun! I smile at the thought.
Gardeners and grown ups don’t like you much,
but on this Mother’s Day,
I wonder how many of you
Became yellow bouquets of love,
Gracing Mom’s dining room table,
Along with a homemade card.
Dandelions, I think God created you just for children.
