Come sit awhile
On the comfy garden bench,
Neath’ the tall pine trees.
Let the sun melt away your cares.
Close your eyes and rest.
Nature’s tranquility
Will refresh your soul,
And you will leave renewed
To face another day of life.

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. —Pablo Picasso
Faith holds strongly
Belief based deeply
Un-battered, Un-broken
Heart un-swaying
Joyfully dances securely
Soul peaceful
Doubts fly away
Faith stands firm
Beliefs rooted deep
Unshaken
Deep rooted beliefs
Firm stands faith
Away fly doubts
Peaceful soul
Securely dances joyfully
Un-swaying heart
Un-broken, Un-battered
Deeply based belief
Strongly holds faith

(Revision of Original Poem published in September 2019)
Do you like me,
My mind, my thoughts inside?
Respect me
Internally,
Or the shell which I reside?
I’m more than that.

Enjoying summer in
Lavender adirondacks
Warmth of the sunshine
Seeps through ancient tree’s canopy
Ministering to my soul

(Visited the college today to get my books for the Fall semester and decided to take a walk around campus since it was such a nice day. Saw these lavender chairs and had to stop to rest in them.😊)
As my heart fills with perplexity
And threatens to overwhelm my soul
My minds fills with Your words to me
Comforting with precious
Promises so sweet
And remembrance
Of Your care

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19 KJV
It came creeping
In the dark night of my soul
Fear over shadowed
Covering like a thick fog
I lay paralized
Frozen in its doubt and dread
Until a shaft of hope
Broke through the darkness bringing
Strenght to rise and overcome

“When you face fear it evaporates. Shadows cannot stand light. —LeAura Alderson
This quote by LeAura is very true.
And this poem I wrote today is written from one of my true experiences with fear. We must face our fears and when we do they will dissipate.
Shakespeare also said it well:
“Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.”
(This quote has also helped me to face fears many times in my life.)
Standing
Tall, held up by
The Everlasting Arms of
The Eternal God, Whom is my refuge
And strength
Cinquain
The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
Deuteronomy 33:27
Commit to always keep going non-stop
Singing a song only your heart knows
Clinging to a belief deep within
That will give your soul the wings to fly
Syllablic Verse
(Based on this poem by Emily Dickinson)
“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,”
–Emily Dickinson
prompt for the day isn’t exactly based in revision, but it’s not exactly not based in revision, either. It also sounds a bit more complicated than it is, so bear with me! First, find a poem in a book or magazine (ideally one you are not familiar with). Use a piece of paper to cover over everything but the last line. Now write a line of your own that completes the thought of that single line you can see, or otherwise responds to it. Now move your piece of paper up to uncover the second-to-last line of your source poem, and write the second line of your new poem to complete/respond to this second-to-last line. Keep going, uncovering and writing, until you get to the first line of your source poem, which you will complete/respond to as the last line of your new poem
Paled
And poor
Dreams fading
Into the night
He clings to the hope
That his fingers will find
A new sound upon the strings
That will refresh his weary soul
To arise from the blue funk of woe
And dance to the music of his heart
