Birthday Blessings Bestowed

Me on my 76th birthday

Special days happen

Because people take time

To make them so

Senryu

I enjoyed a very special birthday today because so many people took the time to make it so for me. My family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances all shared their wishes in some way to make the day great, and for that I am feeling especially grateful and blessed!

Love Found

Love Rock
A pleasant surprise

Placed on a random bench

Tiny “Love Rock”

Senryu

Today I was blessed to find a “Love Rock” at just the right time to brighten up my day.

If you have never heard of “Love Rocks” I invite you to check out their website at www.loverocks.org where you can read the heart touching story of how and why “Love Rocks” started and perhaps you might want to participate in sharing the love as well.

Sweet Sixteen

Minute poem about turning Sweet Sixteen
Original Poetry by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015

This Sweet Sixteen poem was written for my other grand-daughter who is turning 16 soon.
I am going to use this for her birthday card.
This is my first time using the Minute form and it was quite a challenge because of the rhyme and syllable count.
I don’t know why it is called “Minute” poem!  It certainly took me more than a minute to write this poem! 🙂

On This Day

On this day, in the morn,
Fourty short years ago,
A tiny child was born.
On this day in the morn,
The title Mom was first worn,
And I was all aglow,
On this day in the morn,
Fourty short years ago.

September 21, 1973,
Was quite a special day for me.
It was a day like no other,
For that’s when I first became a mother.
