Love is Kind

Heart with “Love is Kind” text

Love is kind, it thinks before speaking

Harsh words that damage tender hearts.

Love speaks kindness with a soft voice

That sooths hurting emotions.

Love has compassion

Love builds up others

Love is giving

Love cares

Love is

Kind

Today is National “Love is Kind” Day.

I think it’s a day we should celebrate every day!

I Am -Self Portrait

Leona-name Art
Alphabet Art by Leona J. Atkinson

I am my mother’s face in the mirror,

As I speak her favorite quotes

To myself, that “This Too Shall Pass”.

I am dad’s voice echoing,

“Don’t Forget, Smell The Flowers”.

I am God’s Spirit,

Reflecting Him

To the world,

At this

Time.

A List Of Things

Clipboard with list

Things

Things lost

Things broken

Things we’ve found

Things of beauty

Things chosen in haste

Things we’ll treasure forever

Things we let go to slip away

Things broken by their use or misuse

Things left behind, forgotten, unwanted

Things dreamed about yet never received

Things dreamed about that we’ve achieved

Things we never wanted but got

Things that rose up like weeds

Things we kept to appease others

Things we threw away

Things we’ve loved

Things we miss

Things lost

#NaPoWriMo—Day 9–Prompt: write a list of things

Enveloped by Fear

Walker

That silver cage that surrounded me

Had now become my closest friend.

I’d come to depend on it.

It was ready to support,

Always there for me.

How could I possibly

Decide to

Let it go

For a

Cane?

It had stood ready to help me in the night.

When I was alone it brought me comfort.

I did not have to worry,

It wouldnt let me fall again.

I was safe with it,

Yet, it held me back.

No! Fear held me!

So I took the

Cane and

Walked!

NaPoWriMo 2018. Day 6

Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem that stretches your comfort zone with line breaks. That could be a poem with very long lines, or very short lines. Or a poem that blends the two.

Unclad

Unworn Armor

We smiled, chittering and chattering

As daylight filled with bright sunshine

Spilled upon us walking sprightly.

In the distance a lion roared

But the sound did not reach

Our quiescent ears

Dulled by sleep.

Our guard down,

The lion

Strikes!

Caught

Off guard

We scramble

To stand and fight

The enemy attack.

Unprepared for battle,

Head and heart vulnerable

To fleshly fear and worldly anger,

We attempt to vanquish our beastly foe

Unprotected. We cry out for God to help us!

Security

Fall in the Forest Looking for a place to run and hide.

Health problems falling like Fall leaves

Upon my foundation of faith.

Above me threatening

Fears loom like dark clouds,

And Doubts circle around,

Causing a chill,

Til I hear

My Lord

Speak.

He says in Psalm 32:7 that:

  • He is my Hiding Place.
  • He will protect me from trouble
  • He will surround me and shout for my deliverance
