Life’s Purpose?

Mirror Cinquain poem about life's purpose--shadows
Original Poetry by Leona J. Atkinson ©2015 (graphic from clker.com) Based on Psalm 39: 4-7 NKJV “LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”

Not Tellin’

Tanka poem about a humorous experience
Original Poetry and Photograph by Leona J. Atkinson ©2014

What a reply!  I never expected that! “I’m not tellin’ ” I said!  LOL!
I met this little guy today while I was cashiering at work.
He was a bundle of energy and full of questions!
His mom must sure have her hands full with him and his brother who are twins!
But, he sure made my day and gave us all a good laugh with his reply to my question!
I just had to write this poem to hold onto the memory of him and this encounter!

Young or Old?

I’m too young to be old,
So I’m often told.
And yes, I’d quite agree
Since age means little to me.
I think and act very youthful,
But I must be truthful,
So I’ll dispel myth with my tongue.
“I’m too old to be young”

Grand Ma

White hair
Face wrinkled with age
Her eyes sparkle with love
I seek her wisdom about life
