Original mixed media collage created by my grand-daughter Victoria

Maybe choosing to

Step out of your comfort zone

Will bring happiness

Senryu

My grand-daughter is a very talented artist in acrylic painting and charcoal drawing, especially in doing portraits.

Yesterday when we got together to do our crafting project she surprised me by saying” I want to try something different”

And so she did! She stepped out of her comfort zone and created something “Wonderful” in mixed media paper collage. 😊

Choices

Crack in sidewalk that looks like a Y or two paths

Two paths lay before me

Where will they lead my feet

If I go left where will I be

Two paths lay before me

If I go right what will I see

I wonder if in the end both will meet

Two paths lay before me

Where will they lead my feet

In My Shoes

Paper collage shoes
Paper Collage “Shoes” by Leona J Atkinson 2020

While walking thru life in these shoes

I saw things I didn’t want to see

Came upon things I didn’t choose

While walking thru life in these shoes

I walked away from things I hated to lose

Stood firm when when I wanted to flee

While walking thru life in these shoes

I saw things I didn’t want to see

Triolet

Yes, many things I’ve seen and done in my 75 years, but nothing has quite been like what I am seeing and experiencing now during this virus.

I pray all our shoes will stand strong so that we will all be walking away from this time in our lives healthy and free to really live life again in a world that is free from this terrible disease.

Tis true

Life is made of choices

So think before acting

For what we choose determines

Our fate

From: ________ To:_________

Girl barefoot with suitcase

From the Midwest prairie there arose,

A blue eyed country girl, quiet and shy.

Twas a simple, honest life she chose,

Enjoying nature’s wood, and clear blue sky,

Til years, and bitter tears, drew her away

To the bright city lights and noisy nights,

Bringing many sorrows and great dismay,

Filled with untrue friends and foolish fights.

But suddenly, one night, arose a light,

Telling her to return whence she came,

And visions of the prairie she did sight,

Helping her heal from all the grief and shame.

Once more, now barefoot, she stands

Upon simple, Midwestern prairie lands.

Speaking Alphabetically

World map created from alphabet letters

A slip of the tongue

Brings heartache if

Careless words are spoken and

Damage can be done to a tender heart.

Even if you apologize and ask

Forgiveness theres no

Getting the words back once they’re spoken.

Honestly, words can be like arrows that

Inflict pain if they are

Judging words, but if they are

Kind words, spoken in

Love with true

Meaning and compassion behind them,

Not only will they do good, but they might

Open the door to end someone’s

Pain, or help someone

Quit a bad habit.

Remember to think before you

Speak, and

Try to always choose

Uplifting words that will bring

Victory into someone’s life, for

Words are powerful!

X-ray each one for harmful effects before

You speak it, for we all need to be

Zealous to make sure our words are good.
