Shine Your Light

Be a flashlight

Shine a light

On darkness

Reveal things

To help guide

Those lost

Be a flashlight

Be ready

Offer help

When needed

Syllabic Verse

This poem was inspired by an incident I had the other day as I was creating art.

I needed to see deep down into a vase I was using, and since my iPhone was in my pocket I remembered it had a built in flashlight option which I could easily flip on to shine light down into the vase and reveal what, if anything, might be inside.

This experience reminded me that I should always be ready to be a light bearer whenever and wherever needed.

Comfort and Joy

HOPE brick, tiny yellow flower

A bit of comfort

Springing up in time of need

Tiny flower of hope

Haiku

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;

Man never Is, but always To be blest.

The soul, uneasy, and confin’d from home,

Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

—Alexander Pope, “An Essay on Man”

Today as I went out to visit my “Inspiration Rock Corner” to place a few new rocks I had painted, I happened to notice a tiny yellow flower blooming right next to the HOPE brick I had painted.

It seemed to match the little yellow flowers I had painted on the brick and I thought it not to be a co-incidence that the tiny flower had chosen that exact spot of all others in the yard to appear in bloom.

Plant seeds of hope in your heart. Give them plenty of love and attention. Then watch as your beautiful dreams bloom” – Amy Atherton …

A Firm Foundation

Big solid rock

Earth’s tickling my feet,

Sensations surround my mind,

Running to escape, I

Keep reaching towards heaven,

Grasping above me,

Looking for a life line,

A hand reaches down,

Lifts me to another level,

Where I stand on solid rock.

Choka

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand…”

Birthday Blessings Bestowed

Me on my 76th birthday

Special days happen

Because people take time

To make them so

Senryu

I enjoyed a very special birthday today because so many people took the time to make it so for me. My family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances all shared their wishes in some way to make the day great, and for that I am feeling especially grateful and blessed!

God’s Hand

Hand drawing, Psalm 91background, red heart in center with words Hope, Help, Healing
Art by Leona J. Atkinson 2020

Hope, Help, Healing

Are in my God’s palm today

He’s reaching forth to

Bring His hope and help worldwide

And healing to the nations

Tanka

As I was praying this morning for my family, friends, fellow believers, myself, and the nations of people worldwide, tears of sorrow came to me as I prayed against this virus which seems to be covering the world.

I asked that the blood of Jesus might come to cover us instead.

I asked that there be a worldwide revival so people might be drawn to God and come to know Him as His hand is not too short to save anyone anywhere.

As I was praying I had a vision of God’s Hand extended. He was holding out His hand and in His Palm were the words Hope, Help, Healing.

This is what He is offering to all of us today, anywhere we are, worldwide.

If you are looking for Hope, Help, or Healing, He is offering it to you.

Take His Hand and receive what you need. He is a good God who will never leave you, nor forsake you in this time of pandemic or anytime.

He will always be near to bring Hope, Help and Healing to your mind, body and soul night or day.

NaPoWriMo Day 4--Prompt: Dream image. ( Well my poem is close to prompt as it was a vision I had, but not actually a dream)

Flu

Corona Virus symbol

Some words we like

Others not so much

These days it’s true

There’s one word

No one wants to hear

“CoronaVirus”

We can’t stop our ears

From hearing it’s sound

Or close our eyes

To block it from sight

But we can focus

Our minds to not dwell

On this dismal word

We can use prayer

To ask for our God’s help

And for His wisdom

And strength at this time

Syllabic Verse

Praying this word is soon no longer part of our vocabulary.

World’s Spinning Wheel

Spinning Ferris Wheel

What I’m hearing so unreal!

Things happening so surreal!

So to God I appeal,

Ask Him To reveal,

Just how I should deal,

With this strange ordeal,

And still try to be genteel.

He said “ Don’t let it your faith steal,

Nor let fear loudly peal.

My word is true and real,

And My hand can surely heal.

So don’t live by how things feel

For to Me all things must kneel.“
