Happiness realized
In my little world today
Promises fulfilled
Day’s filled will sunny smiles
Summer finally woke up!
Tanka
Summer is finally here and I am doing my happy dance! Temps in 75 to 80’s today and all next week! Yay!!

Summer’s been sleeping,
Wasting her alotted days
Procrastinating.
Weather man keeps promising
Tomorrow for sure
We’ll see her warm sunny smile,
Yet so far it seems
She keeps on hibernating.
Will tomorrow ever come?

Living
In the shadow
Of good things yet to come
Sheltered by His shade on my
Right hand
Cinquain
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
Psalm 121:5

Bringing some joy
To those who have none
In an obscure place
Haiku
Many of us are in an obscure place right now. Walking unfamiliar paths, trying hard to find hope in the midst of all the new normal, yet, if we look, many times we will see little splashes of joy scattered along our path, tiny seeds planted to encourage us as we navigate through these challenging times.
Take some time to look for them today, usually they are found in unexpected places and just at the time they’re needed the most.

Comforting words soothe those
Alone in a world of pain and grief,
Reminding them someone cares.
Each day they do their best to
Give of themselves,
Inspiring others with their dedication,
Valiantly enduring their own woes to
Encourage others to overcome theirs,
Reminding people they matter,
Silently making a difference daily.
Acrostic

Do you wonder why It is hard to love a person who works with Older Adults?
We come home late and are too tired to cook.
We work extra because we know there are sick, lonely, or depressed residents who need us.
We don’t always want to talk when we come home because we have talked all day.
We don’t want to work around the house when we come home because we have moved all day and many times it is hours before we get a break.
It may seem that we have left all our caring, our hearts, and our love at work, and then come home without any left.
But we don’t tell you that many times at work we are scared.
Scared we are missing something. Scared we will let our residents down. We have to deal with angry families who only see one side, and they fuss at us when we are doing our best and following regulations set by the state.
We don’t tell you how the staffing shortage makes us frustrated and overly tired, not to mention “wearing more hats” because less people are allowed inside.
We juggle so many things at once. We love the job we do, but we are stressed and scared of what we might come in contact with – and the unknown.
It is hard to love a person who works with older adults, but know this: Your healthcare worker needs your love.
They need your understanding – your patience. They need to know that you “get it”, especially when their hands are tied concerning guidelines.
They are working with LOTS of people at one time, all day, and have many other requirements to tend to, and still have to keep a smile on their face and try to please everyone.
They have to clean, disinfect, and wear a mask all day in an already warm environment.
They wash their hands so much that their hands become dry and cracked.
They have to document. Everything.
Therefore, They need you to do the hardest thing YOU may ever do, which is to love a healthcare worker.
These workers are the “forgotten” ones in healthcare. They need your love and support.

Waiting,
For summertime.
Looking for the sunshine
To chase away the dull gray days
Of life.
Cinquain
July 5th and it’s still cloudy, gloomy, chilly weather outside. We are ready for some warm, sunny days, but still waiting for summer weather to arrive. Hope it does soon.

Freedom
Hearing its sound
Seeing it in the sky

Tonight my neighborhood is abounding with fireworks, it seems everyone around me has some kind of noisemakers going off and lighting up the sky.
I think it’s more abundant this year because all our big fireworks shows were cancelled because of Covid, so more people bought their own to shoot off at home.
I enjoy it all to a point, as I am all for celebrating the freedoms we have and am very grateful for them, but when it goes on and on until all hours of the night then I have to say enough is enough and it’s getting quite close to the midnight hour right now, so I am about to say “Enough!” 😊

A bit of comfort
Springing up in time of need
Tiny flower of hope
Haiku
Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest.
The soul, uneasy, and confin’d from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
—Alexander Pope, “An Essay on Man”
Today as I went out to visit my “Inspiration Rock Corner” to place a few new rocks I had painted, I happened to notice a tiny yellow flower blooming right next to the HOPE brick I had painted.
It seemed to match the little yellow flowers I had painted on the brick and I thought it not to be a co-incidence that the tiny flower had chosen that exact spot of all others in the yard to appear in bloom.

News dampens spirits,
Is the weather mimicking?
Summer has vanished
Haiku
It’s July 2nd and in my area of the Pacific Northwest we are experiencing what I feel is a late start to good ol’ summertime.
The weather has been very changeable, quite like the daily news reports.
We’ve had a few warm days but not many and it seems more like Spring to me instead of Summer, as each day I awaken to gloomy cloudy skies, chilly temps and occasional rain sprinkling, this can put a damper on one’s spirit quite like the morning news reports often do lately.
Sigh. Oh where, oh where has my beloved Summer gone? Has she vanished with all our other normalcy?
I hope not. I hope she returns soon. I miss her sunny smile and gentle hugs of warmth.
How’s the weather where you reside? Are you experiencing the same, or does Summer alive and active in your area?
