Juliette’s House

White Cat figurine

Colorless

But for blue dot

Blind cat silently sits

His wish for a loving, good home

Fulfilled

Cinquain

While in a local bank I stopped to check out the tags on the Giving Tree they had set up. The Tree was to provide Christmas Gifts to our local Juliette’s House, which is a place dedicated to helping abused children.

One Tag said “Colored Pencils”. Since I am into drawing and coloring I chose that one to fulfill.

Looking further my eye caught sight of a tag that said “Dog and Cat Figurines”. I chose that tag for my daughter to fulfill as she was a Dog/Cat lover, being an owner of 4 dogs and 2 cats.

The Small Cat Figurine she donated to Juliette’s House was all white except it had a very small blue dot on its fur. We thought it was unique and that perhaps the child that received it would use his/her imagination to create a story as to how the blue dot came to be, as I did in this Tanka poem.

Any of you poets want to add to this Cat’s story? If so, share your imaginative poem or thought in the comment section.

Give Kindness

Be Kind chalk drawing

Kindness,

Easy to give,

But so often not given.

Hearts are waiting to receive,

Be kind.

Cinquain

We would call a man selfish who should refuse to give a cup of water to one who was thirsty. Yet many of us do this continually: it is the heart that thirsts, and the water we refuse to give is human kindness.

Sharing Seed

Bids in Winter sharing birdseed

Birds in winter

Hopping all about

Scratching ground

Searching for

Nourishment under the snow

Birdseed is welcomed

Shadorma

I love to watch the birds in my backyard. All Spring and Summer I enjoyed watching a family of Doves, some Cedar Waxwings, Blackbirds,Sparrows and occasionally was fortunate enough to catch sight of a Hummingbird, but now that it’s Winter I don’t see many of my feathered friends, it’s usually just a squirrel or two that is scurrying around. But today, I happened to see quite a gathering of Chickadees hopping about looking for food. They are such cute little birds! Their presence, and also the BlueJay that joined them, was a treat to see, and also a reminder to make sure to keep the birdseed available to them this winter. I figure that’s the least I can do since it’s a such a joy to see them visiting.

Ocean beach

Opportunity

Comes and goes with the tide

Every moment counts

As with the sands of time

Now is important

Take heed before it slips away

Invest in your future

Decide to capture opportunities

Each and everyday day

What is HOPE?

Hope Advent Candle

Hope is a Promise,

Hold fast to it without wavering.

Hope is Living, through God’s

Mercy in Christ’s resurrection.

Hope is Grace and God.

Hope’s in you and me.

Hope is an Anchor,

That’s sure and steadfast-cling to it.

Hope is ours for the Future.
