Sweet sounds fill the air
Birds in the meadow singing
Music to my ears

Midsummer evening
Enjoying a walk with friends
Full moon shining down

Caw! Caw! Caw!
He said,
while perching on my deck.
Standing tall,
He raised his head,
Caw! Caw! Caw!
This unwelcome visitor
awoke and rousted me from bed.
Caw! Caw! Caw!
Other places he could land.
He chose my deck instead.
Caw! Caw! Caw!
Loudly, boldly,
His voice pled,
Caw! Caw! Caw!
Then he was gone.
Into the meadow he fled.
Caw! Caw! Caw!

Daylight has left me
Sitting alone on my deck
The sun now slowly sets
Darkness tries to dominate
The moon’s soft light overcomes

A butterfly is free
It flits and flies all around
The cocoon is gone
Nothing holds it back from flight
I want to be free like that

An afternoon walk
The scent of Honeysuckle
Perfumes the damp air

Chilly cloudy June day
Running errands in the rain
Summer seems to have gone
