On the road that leads to home
Anticipation
Traveling memory’s trail
Paved with past and present

Thinking
Of all women
In the recent past times
Whose feet tread upon injustice
An stood
Some silent, but unwavering
Strong upon their beliefs
Of equal rights
For all

Smiling, we remember
The laughs they brought to us in days of old
Stars of Vaudeville
Senryu
This mural is in downtown Salem, Oregon on the back of the Elsinore Theatre. It was painted in 1984 by art professor Jim Mattingly. It is titled “Theatrical Heartscape” and depicts characters from vaudeville because the theatre has a long history of vaudeville. On the mural are—W.C. Fields, Theda Bara, Marlene Dietrich, and Charlie Chaplin

Tears for times
Past when we
Young and verdant without care
Lived the high life

Trying to go back to the beginning
Have to find away to erase
Need to change what happened
While in my genesis place
Looking for a way
First errs to chase
But its gone
Without trace
Can’t.

I wrote a poem today inside my head,
It’s positivity chased dread.
It’s words uplifted and carried,
Those dreary thoughts that tarried,
And freed my mind to see,
The joy awaiting me,
In a new day,
Where I may,
Start new!

Ah
Tonight
In my mind
And in my heart
I was young again
I visited the past
Rode down memory lane
Remembered the days of old
While standing on the streets of now

Tonight our hometown had a classic car show and cruise, and I had the pleasure of not only watching all those beautiful cars that I remember from my past drive around,
but also had the opportunity to ride in one!
I began driving in 1960 and I was blessed to have owned many of those cars that are now called “classic”. (And I wish I still had some of them now!😊)
But it was such fun to not only see them all cruising around but to also be able to do so with my 18 year old grand-daughter who owns a 1985 RX-7.
Fun night! Great old and new memories!

A link to the past
Senryu
When I was a kid in the 50’s my school lunch, in a brown paper sack, consisted of a tomato sandwich made from mom’s homemade bread and a garden fresh tomato. I still love that combo.
Years, Tears, and Fears
Evaporated and gone.
Seasons and Reasons in
Time have passed on.
Each moment now spent
Reliving them is pointless.
Days of old are done,
All just memories of the Past.
Yearning won’t bring them back.
Seek today and live!
