The sun painted
The western sky orange red,
While fingers plucked harp strings
Soothing sounds enveloped my ears,
Drowning out the darkness
Just blocks away,
While my ears heard sweet words,
Others were being torn apart
As the blackness of a cold heart,
Unleased its bitterness,
Drowning a soul
Double Butterfly Cinquain
I wrote this after a visit to this lake with my family. It is a popular place to go in the summer, but personally I would not swim there.
Celebrating the first day of Summer today–the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere!
Hope it’s sunny where you are today! If not, just enjoy the longer daylight hours!

On the calendar,
The shortest day of the year.
December twenty first,
The first day that winter begins.
Sun shines, temp warm, work day long!
