Creating art with grand-daughter

Senryu

Even though outside it was another cloudy, chilly, rainy day, inside my craft room it was sunny, warm and cheerful!

My grand-daughter came over this afternoon to participate in another art collaboration project with me and we had so much fun sharing ideas, chatting and creating. She inspired me, as I did her and we both ended up with projects we were really happy with!

Fun day!

Everyday Life

Mixed Media art, flowers, by Leona J. Atkinson

While the world is falling apart

My neighbors and I are building

Relationships, gardens, and ideas

In our little corner of the world

We are making the most of each day

That we have to build friendships and

Create beauty while we can

No not burying our heads in the sand

But focusing on the positive

And ignoring negativity

We live sensibly in unity

Praying, trusting in theLord and doing good

The Ripple Effect

Backyard Rock Garden

A fallen tree stump

Inspiration takes root

Rock garden springs up

Creativity of one hand

Causes neighbor unity

Tanka

I am so inspired to see the creativity that continues to grow in my neighborhood backyard. It really is a testimony to the ripple effect.

Yesterday my next door neighbor told me to come see what two other nearby neighbors had begun doing in their yards lately, and it was a beautiful creation of plants and flowers that definitely improved the property and visually brightened our total backyard landscape.

These neighbors hold me the other neighbors next to us will be continuing this theme all along the backside of our building which will eventually create a continuous stream of beauty all long the area where once there was just dirt, mud or dead grass and weeds.

It made me so happy to see, and I found tears of joy start glistening in my eyes, because all this began from a storm last year that caused one fallen tree. When it’s debris was hauled away all there was left was a small stump sticking up in the middle of our backyard. Looking at that every morning inspired me to want to beautify that area by sitting a plant on the stump and then to create a rock garden around it.

So I began. I put a plant on the stump, placed a few rocks around it and planted some ground cover. It began to take shape, and it was a great improvement to the yard. I figured it would be a work in progress as I pondered what else could go in there.

A couple of my next door neighbors loved the look and asked if they could help or.add to it and it has now grown into a beautiful centerpiece in our backyard that has spawned an outgrowth of other areas of beauty all around us as the creativity grew.

What a beautiful ripple effect!

On a Journey with Creativity

I am in the midst of rearranging my art room, creating new outdoor garden art, participating in a daily art journal challenge, and planning for a tea party next month.

I am on this crazy journey filled with creative ideas that’s so fun but at times a bit tiring. 😊

The Little Things

Tiny painted rock on a ruler

Just a tiny bit

Can make a big difference

Share love and kindness

Senryu

I found this very tiny painted rock today. It had been painted and placed in my Inspiration Corner Rock Garden I thought it was so unique that I just had to keep it for myself as a reminder that even the smallest act of creativity of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.

So go out and inspire someone somewhere today! A tiny bit of creativity or kindness is all you need!

Turn It Around

Watercolor painting titled “Happy Accidents” by Leona J. Atkinson 2020
“Happy Accidents” watercolor by Leona J. Atkinson 2020

Turn mistakes into happiness

Let your creativity flow free

Let those mishaps bring joy

Turn errs into success

Then you’ll be happy

With life’s work

When all is

Said and

Done

What I love about watercolor is that a lot of happy accidents occur.

Keeping Busy

Flowers created from recyclables

Limited resources,

Boredom, time to spare,

Creativity reigns.

New garden art on display,

Pretty way to recycle.

Tanka

Today I was working on creating some yard art from things I had on hand. I like to make useful items from things that normally get thrown away or recycled so I have been trying to find things to make with the plastic bottle caps from my water bottles and also aluminum cans. The photo posted is some of the flowers created today that when finished will go outside in my back yard.

Inspiration Is:

reach for the sky, sky, boy on ladder reaching

Inspiration is an impulse to try something new.
A revelation that your life’s work isn’t through.
A thought that stimulates an action,
Spurring you by stimulating traction.

Arousing a notion, increasing your might,
Inspiration awakens you in the night
To new possibilities.
It’s the brainchild of capabilities.

A spark that lights a flame,
It changes the same, reorders the game,
Illuminates the path to find your muse,
Unleashing creativity without excuse.

It may come as a flash, creating a rumble,
Causing the mundane to fall and crumble,
Awakening a vision, encouraging a dream,
Inflating your diminished self esteem.

Often it’s a whim, a hunch, an insight,
An idea that seems to just sound right.
A brainstorm that threatens your complicity,
Calling you revive an old ability.

It motivates you to flights of fancy,
Soaring to heights that may be chancy,
Yet elevating you to live in rife,
And experience an enthusiasm for life!
