Some Thoughts on This Last Day of November 2019

November 2019 calendar with fall leaves on it

Consider…

You can’t go back

And erase the past

You can go forward to create a

future

Cinquain

Next month I have chosen to do a challenge called “Dressember.”

For this challenge I have committed to wear a dress everyday for the month of December in order to raise awareness (and funds) in the campaign against human trafficking and modern slavery.

So some of my poetry next month may reflect on this as I journey thru each day of the challenge.

I will be making daily posts on my personal blog about my journey regarding this challenge as well as posting pics and info about Dressember and the fight against human trafficking and abuse.

If any of you would like to follow me on this journey I invite you to subscribe to my other blog at: Blog | Leona J. Atkinson | Inspirational Writer/Artist

Blessings and Sorrows

As blessings come

So do many sorrows

All have some

Present, or tomorrows

Like a beating drum

Life constantly harrows

As blessings come

So do many sorrows

Keep the faith to overcome

And stand strong in all the morrows

Rhyme

Inspired by:–Don Moen–“Be It Onto Me” song lyrics:

You promised to carry our sorrows
Lord, we believe it’s true
You promised unending tomorrows
Lord we receive them from you

God’s Tear Bottle and Book

Teardrop

He catches each tear

Not one escapes His sight

Rest assured saints

He’s kept every teardrop

That you have ever shed

And listed each one

Counted every sorrow

They’re all in His record book

Choka

You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.

A Seen Scene

Starry Night

Delights the eye

Was it real

Or just seen

By Van Gogh’s

Artist mind

Syllabic Verse

I have always admired “The Starry Sky” painting by Van Gogh and the interesting history behind it.

Therefore, when I was given the opportunity to try to paint it as a gift for my grand-daughter, I jumped at the chance, however as a beginner in art, and a newby with acrylics, I was challenged indeed!

However, as Van Gogh said: “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced. So I gave it a try!

The result was of course no where near as beautiful as Van Gogh’s but I had fun trying and my grand-daughter loved it!
