Simplicity

Yellow Roses in bloom
My yellow rose in bloom

Neighbor’s helping hand

Good news in the mail

Peace where I stand

Counting my blessings

Makes me feel grand!

Rhyme

Just a simple little rhyme today as I sit counting my blessings.

Sometimes I just stand and look at my roses in bloom and give thanks for their beauty.

Sometimes I see my neighbor’s friendly faces or am the recipient of their helping hands and am so grateful.

Sometimes when I see news reports of all the chaos, sadness and destruction going on all around the world I give thanks it is not happening in my little corner of the world.

And as I count my blessings, I pray for those who can’t.

I hope you who are reading this today are blessed and enjoying many little things in your life that are bringing you joy and happiness even in the midst of this pandemic.

A Firm Foundation

Big solid rock

Earth’s tickling my feet,

Sensations surround my mind,

Running to escape, I

Keep reaching towards heaven,

Grasping above me,

Looking for a life line,

A hand reaches down,

Lifts me to another level,

Where I stand on solid rock.

Choka

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand

All other ground is sinking sand…”

from “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less”, a Christian hymn written by Edward Mote, a pastor at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Horsham, West Sussex. Mote wrote around 100 hymns, this one, which he wrote in 1834, being the best known of his.

Doodling Day

Hand drawing with doodling
Hand Doodle Art @LeonasDesigns 2019

Monotone message

Conquering the boredom

Doodling on my hand

Senryu

I joined an art challenge this month on #Instagram called #Sketchtember and today’s prompt was to sketch a hand so I decided to try sketching a 3D hand plus do some doodling on it while I was listening to a lecture on writing poetry for a poetry class I am in.

Thus, the result was this poem and art I am posting today 😊.

?–Have you ever tried #doodling or #sketching as a challenge, or as a way to overcome boredom?

Of Plans and Paths

Path

An unexpected crack in my plans

Puts me on a path of imperfection

I must keep myself from slipping

And with new eyes, begin again

I can’t let my plans slip away

I must now patch the imperfection

That arose and caused me to have

An unexpected crack in my plans

With new eyes I search for an answer

That will help me smooth out my plans

To keep me from a happening that

Puts me on a path of imperfection

As I avidly search to find the answer

I come upon one who offers help

He extends His strong hand, I grasp it

I must keep myself from slipping

My kind strong Helper leads me to new places

Places where I can find perfect plans

Good sound plans created just for me

And with new eyes begin again

Heavenly Hand

Cloud shaped like a Hand in the sky

Sighting in the sky.

Fingers reaching down.

Is it Hand of God?

Haiku

Haiku Horizons Weekly Challenge Week #239 prompt: Hand

This is a photo I took of what I saw in the Oregon sky a couple days ago while riding in the car as my grand-daughter was driving.

The cloud image looked so much like a giant hand with four fingers showing that I had to snap a pic of it and then I see that Haiku Horizons Prompt for this week is “hand”!

Perfect Poem Prompt! 😊

Whose Hand?

Hands
My inner child’s asking

“Whose hand are you holding

As you walk today?”

“If it’s the Hand of Pleasure,

She will lead astray”

“If it’s the Hand of Worry

You’ll have a bad day”

“I’m holding the Hand of God”

I say, ” So I’ll always be okay”
