Flowing Forward

Sign saying “Keep Going”

When weariness comes

Keep Going

Flowing like a river

Syllable Lune

I was a bit weary today. One of those days when doubts step in and began dragging you down and you just feel defeated, like you can’t go on, but then…I saw this sign on a shelf in a thrift store, it said: “Keep Going” and I felt it was meant for me, so I perked myself up and kept going, and guess what?

I had a great day! 😊

Think positive thoughts

Keep Going

Weariness will leave

Encourage Yourself

Never Give Up painting

Some days when you just can’t win

Fight that feelin’ of just givin’ up

Don’t lose hope before you begin

Some days when you just can’t win

Keep tryin’ and make yourself grin

Pray for God’s strength to stand up

Some days when you just can’t win

Fight that feelin’ of just givin’ up

“Homeless—Single Mom”

Cardboard sign saying “Homeless—Single Mom”

Two little girls cry out in the night

“Mommy!” they say to no one in sight

A blanket of fear holds them tight

As strangers tell them “It’ll be alright”

Sitting on concrete at the light

Her youthful trembling hands of white

Hold up a sign stating her plight

Holding back tears with all her might

Twin girl’s Mom won’t give up the fight

To make their future bright

Rhyme

10 lines—each line 8 syllables—Rhyme

For the creative writing class I am currently taking I tried to rewrite my original Tanka written on September 4, 2019, into a 10 line poem using the line “sitting on concrete” while also using parts of the lines “thin white hands” and “two little girls” in some way.

This poem is what I came up with after quite some deliberation.

Dealing With Downers

Disappointment quote with pic of a puppy dog
Image from OctPoWriMo

Don’t entertain those

Dogged disappointment days

Dismiss and disown

Them from depressing your life

Discuss your problems

Resolve to dissolve

Seek the positive

Discover ways to overcome

Don’t let despondency win

Choka

There’s always failure. And there’s always disappointment. And there’s always loss. But the secret is learning from the loss, and realizing that none of those holes are vacuums.” —Michael J. Fox

Walking Uphill

Stairs, step by step, walking upward

Step by step

You will make it soon

Fortitude

Certitude

Determined steps always

Keep moving forward

Shadorma

This poem is based on an experience I had this summer where I faced a block walk up a steep hill, i had already walked nearly 4 miles, it was a hot day, I had no water with me, there was no place to stop and rest. I was tempted to quit, turn around, give up, but I didn’t and I am glad. It was difficult but I made it, slowly, one step at a time. And, as I look back now that was one of my best days, as I felt I had accomplished something that at the time seemed impossible.

Sometimes life is that way. Sometimes we want to just quit, give up, stop caring, stop trying, for just getting through the day seems like we are walking up a steep hill, with no place to stop and take a break, no refreshment or reprieve in sight, but if we keep moving forward, slowly, we will make it—one step at a time.

Never. Ever. Give Up.

Are You?

Dandelion growing in cracked dry ground

Falling through life’s cracks?

Or are you a ground breaker?

Growing in the hard places,

Blooming where you’re planted,

In spite of dry times,

Letting nothing hold you back,

From reaching your goal?

Modeling tenacity,

Like teeming dandelions?

Created to Fly

Butterfly sitting on a flower

I hear the message “It’s Time”

Yet my butterfly wings won’t fly

I want to soar, be sublime

I hear the message “It’s Time”

I want to rise in my prime

I want to circle the sky

I hear the message “It’s Time”

Yet my butterfly wings won’t fly

Triolet

Butterflies were created to fly but did you know they can’t fly if they are cold?

Butterfly Kinesiology: Keeping Warm and Staying Aloft

I can also relate this to myself, in that unless I say close to The Son, abiding in Him to receive the warmth of the Father’s love, I will not be able to stay aloft to reach my full potential and do what I was created for.

Something to think about today as I sit and watch the butterflies flutter about my yard in the summer sun.
