Watching as you leave…
August, you brought lots of sunshine,
Must I say goodbye?
I am not looking forward
To those Fall days
Of less sun and shorter days
That September brings.
Oh, that Summertime would linger
Instead of running away.

Today
In the garden
I saw hints of Autumn
And I’m not ready to bid Summer
Goodbye
Cinquain
I realized today that August is nearly over and that in about one month Autumn will arrive and I am not at all ready for that!
Summer got started here a month late, and I’m just not looking forward to losing those long warm sunny days yet.
Ah, but every year I fight a losing battle as Summer runs and Winter walks and I can’t do anything about it.
I am Miss Autumn
Dressed in vibrant colors
Creating crisp brisk breezes
Inviting leaves to dance
As maple trees clap
Their red and golden appendages
Beneath cloudy skies
And furry grey squirrels scamper
To gather the oak’s treasures
Choka
Sunset
Feathers on high
Streaks of orange light
Fill the western sky before me
I gasp
Cinquain
Red carpets of leaves
Gold falling all about me
Feel like royalty
Haiku
Upon my window
The winds of time beat softly
Autumn leaves swirl
Things are changing again
Life keeps moving forward

Nature shows us
Letting go
Can be beautiful

“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.” —Author Unknown
Once again
Autumn visits us
Abounding
In color
Leaves fall at her entrance
Blushing from her touch

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. —Albert Camus
Wind whispers
With a chilly voice.
Daylight turns off her light
Earlier, as each evening fades
Away.
Calendar creeps forward to the
Predetermined time
Autumn’s debut
Will come.
Butterfly Cinquain
(Trying to enjoy each summer day while it lasts!)
I sat and watched
As a vagrant leaf
Sashayed past
Meandering
Apparently oblivious
Autumn had long passed
