Society’s Bench
Charming bench,
A place to rest
In quiet peace,
Never used.
Though many pass by everyday,
None have time.

Autumn’s Golden Leaf
The brisk wind opened
Nature’s treasure chest
Found a golden leaf
Placed it right in my path
To glitter in the sunshine
Tanka
I was stopped in my tracks today by the sight of this leaf! It lay in the parking lot right by my car. It looked like it was painted with Gold Leaf Paint but it wasn’t. It was just a light brown leaf but the way the sun was shining on it it looked very golden Such an unusual sight. A pleasant surprise in my day. 😊
Hidden Beauty
You who were once dressed in green
Have changed to a new color
That was kept hidden all summer
By Captain Chlorophyll.
Scarlet beauty
In a moment
You will be
Out of
Time.

Uncaptured Beauty
Autumn posed for me
Outside my window
Her golden brown skirt
Flowing upon a carpet of green
She stood
With one arm draped in scarlet
The other in gold
The wind gasped and held its breath
The song birds sat in silence
As I tried to capture her beauty
With my muted watercolors
In frustration I shouted “No!”
All this silence must go!
Her beauty she must show
Vividly, boldly, richly,
Her colors cannot be muted
They must glow and burst forth
Awaking the senses
Blazing forth vibrantly
Until Autumn is no more!
Free Verse
This poem wrote itself as I stood looking out my patio window at the colors of Autumn and pondering in my heart of how I might paint the beauty that was in front of me. Quickly realizing though that these vibrant colors should not be muted by watercolor, I chose to take a photo instead 😊
Answered Prayers
I gaze
Upon the bench
I sat upon this Summer,
My place of rest where I pondered
Wellness,
While praying for recovery,
And His daily strengthening,
And give thanks
He gave.

Five Months Later…
Today i walk upon a carpet of leaves
In red, yellow, gold, orange, brown
Colors so vibrant yet fading
The opposite of my trodding
Feet which are renewed
To walk more lively
Step more sure
Than before
In Summer’s
Days

I am so thankful that I am pretty much back to normal again after my fall five months ago. I feel very blessed to be able to get out and go for a walk and do things again. Thanking God for His healing, strength and encouragement. He was my ever present help in my time of need.
Seasonal Shifting
As Seasons shift gears
There’s a shift in the weather
Chilly Autumn breeze
Haiku
Fall Flavor
Pumpkin Spice
I’ll be concise
One sip will not suffice
Tis a drink you should enjoy at least twice
Even trice
Please listen, take my advice
It’s smell and taste do entice
It’s paradise
